Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Who are these tours for?
A: Our tours are perfect for first time visitors who would like to have useful and honest info that will help them plan a great stay in paradise. Perfect for people who do not want to go on tumultuous tours full of hassles and fillers. Perfect for people who do not know very much about local culture and would like to experience it accompanied by a proud local. Perfect for people who can not (or do not want to) spend a fixed amount of money on a particular tour.

Q: Why Pay What You Want?
A: Because we believe that everyone deserves the chance to experience a high quality tour regardless of a price tag. Because we want to share our city with you. Because we believe in generosity. Learn More.

Q: What is the recommended contribution for a tour?
A: You pay what you want, if you want. We want you to be happy and comfortable with your contribution. Some guests have suggested the amount you would spend to see a movie or buy a travel book at your home town.  You also probably know how much comparable tours go for - starting at $20-25 per person.  At the end of the tour, you decide. Your contribution is completely voluntary. We will be generous to you, no matter what.

Q: I have been to Puerto Vallarta before. Is the tour still good for me?
A: Of course! On our tours we will explore hidden gems and learn things you probably don’t know about. You might see Vallarta in a totally different way. It is also a great chance to make new friends.

Q: What is the difference between the Day and the Night tour?
A: Both tours are similar in length and info. However, places visited change depending on the day and time of the tour. There is always something new and different to see. Routes are slightly different and guests are welcome to experience both tours to get the full insight.

Q:How long and strenuous are the tours?
A: Tours are about 2 ½ to 3 hours in length and about two miles in distance. There are a couple of hills and stairs involved, just a couple of blocks. A bit of cobble stone too. We will also take a short bus ride. There are rest points and bathroom stops along the way.

Q: Are the tours wheelchair accessible? Are strollers ok?
A: No, sorry, streets are a little difficult. Strollers are ok, although not recommended.  However, our friends at Learn Vallarta (www.puertovallartawalkingtours.com) offer a special Malecon tour for wheelchairs.

Q: Where do tours begin and how do I get there?
A: All tours start at the new PV Food Park  and Gastro Bar located right next to Puerto de Luna Hotel on Vallarta's main avenue. Detailed information (including a map) about your tour’s departure point will be included in your confirmation email after you book. Our starting and ending points are easily accessible by bus, taxi or on foot. We recommend that you plan your journey to the starting point so that you’re sure to get there at least 15 minutes before the start of the tour for a brief orientation.

(Optional) and very affordable breakfast is available on site from 8:15 to 8:45 am at:

- Mr. and Mrs. Waffles (at the Food Park).

- La Terraza Restaurant (at Puerto de Luna Hotel).

Parking is available for a (very simbolic) cost, but please note that the tour ends in a different place about 2 miles away.

Q: Where do tours end?
A: Both tours end on the main section of the Malecon (boardwalk) by the famous Seahorse sculpture, across from the Guadalupe Parish. Taxis and buses are easily available there.

Q: What if I can't find the guide?
A: Please check your ticket date and time to make sure you have arrived on the correct day and in the correct meeting place.  The tour guide will show up 5 – 10 minutes before the tour begins. Please call 322 100.2253 if you have any questions or concerns.

Q: Is there an age limit for the tour?
A: We welcome guests of all ages. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about a guest’s ability to attend the tour.

Q: Can I show up without a ticket or when a tour is full?
A: Yes. We can not guarantee the tour, however you will be on “stand by”. If we are able to get you a spot on the tour, we will be happy to do so. It is always much better to make a reservation.

Q: Can I reschedule or cancel my reservation?
A: Absolutely. As a courtesy to others, please cancel or reschedule your reservation as far in advance in possible so others may book your spots if needed.

Q: What if I don't see the date I'm interested in listed on the calendar?
A: Tours do not run every day. Availability depends on the season. There are no tours offered on days which are not listed on the calendar; however, please contact us if you would like to take the tour on a particular day not shown and we will try to accomodate your party.

Q: How far in advance can I purchase a ticket?
A: Tour dates and times are typically posted about a month in advance. Check back if you don't see your dates listed yet. Tour sizes are intentionally small to create a more personal, intimate, enjoyable experience, which is why we recommend to book early.

A: Yes. Lots of chances. We usually have a taco or go for a drink during and/or after the tour!
